Counseling and Support Services

The Estevan Family Resource Centre offers free counselling and support services to the city of Estevan and surrounding area.
The Family Centre’s counselling program offers brief-solution focused therapy, focusing on solution-building rather than problem solving while discovering the resources available in the community to achieve the solution. The sessions are generally short-term, approximately 6-8 sessions, however every individual and families situation is unique and requires a case-plan that reflects their best interest. Additional sessions will always be provided if the support is necessary. The counsellor acts as an information hub, providing information about and referrals to various specialized support agencies that will meet the individual’s needs. Referral(s) to support agencies are provided on behalf of the client with their permission. If referral(s) are made to specialized services, the counsellor remains connected with the client until it is determined that they are satisfied with the service. For the community’s convenience, the counsellor has flexible hours, accommodating evenings and weekends if necessary.

The services provided by the counsellor include but are not limited to:

  • Support and assistance with parenting specific issues and individual coping strategies
  • Blended family conflict
  • Parent / Youth conflict
  • Sibling conflict
